Hostess Mostess is a husband and wife team currently living in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Both are academic psychologists. The husband posts on the SongFight! message boards as Mostess; the wife once posted as Jane Doe.

Hostess Mostess debuted in 2002 in the "Hotel" fight. Their next entry, "Grandfather Sword" was their first win. Their early songs were recorded on an old Tascam 4-track, and they happily switched to computer-based digital recording (Adobe Audition via a M-Audio USB-based A/D converter) with their "Between the Rain" entry.

Mostess' doctoral thesis was about time perception and rhythm, having studied motor learning in musicians and nonmusicians for several years. He studied music composition and psychology at Oberlin College. He plays guitar, piano, and sings. He currently studies how medical students learn to be doctors at the University of Michigan.
