Jim of Seattle
The Burt Bacharach of Songfight, Jim of Seattle's signature sound is a mix of clean production, good songwriting and jazz infused melodies. Jim Owen was born on Seattle, WA and started playing piano at age 4. As he got older, his tastes in music veered towards musical theatre and he scored the show 4AM Boogie. His time in theatre was brief but it helped him garner his musical chops and led to Jim getting the opportunity to do several songs for soundtrack to Disney's Nightmare Ned video game. After a brief hiatus from music, Songfight revigorated his interest. The muse came back full force and Jim has so far won 4 songfights including the Welcome To fight. His entry in that fight was an instrumental dedicated to his place of work- Microsoft.
Jim has also exhibited an experimental side. He has appeared in two Gift of Music celebrations and both times, he decided to stray from his musical safe zone picking to cover a Rancid song one year and a Deftones song the next. He is also the force behind Ants (Invisible) where he picked up 2 more Songfight victories. He also organized the Song Fight Orchestra and W2 and the Temps projects. He has even brought his progeny into the act, helping cultivate his young daughter Madi's music skills and getting 2 more wins in the process.
