Redcar
Redcar shook up Songfight starting in 2004 with their aggressive rock sound. The band started off when Rob Cosh aka The Hip Cola found Song Fight while on a search for DIY labels and musicians. He told his friend Paul Gosse aka Tonetripper about it and soon Redcar was born. Their first song was in the Moscow, Idaho fight where they took the win. Redcar would grow as drummer tom Skillman aka Leaf 62 was added to the band. More songfight wins would soon follow. The band took the New Sex, Save A Pony from the Glue Factory, Silent Pipe and WTF fights.
One of their most interesting moments though did not come during a winning entry. When the band first arrived at Songfight, they were taken aback by the brash ruthlessness of forum regular Blue Lang. This inspired the band to strike back in song. The result was the song Blueberry Hassle, which includes a backward rant by the Hip Cola about Blue. They have since buried the hatchet.
Redcar has not entered a Songfight since March of 2005 but the members have surfaced in various incarnations including Draft, Hedefine and most recently the trio has joined up with Deshead, Smalltown Mike and Boltoph to form the supergroup, Gert.
